Barrett began his counseling journey in New York, where he discovered a deep passion for helping others navigate life’s most difficult moments. Since 2013, he has supported individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use disorders, beginning his clinical work in a behavioral health hospital and earning his New York State certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor in 2015.

ABOUT BARRETT PLATZNER
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
After six years at St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester, Barrett relocated to Florida and completed his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. He brings extensive experience from both inpatient and outpatient settings, working with clients across the lifespan—from adolescents to older adults. Prior to starting his private practice, Barrett served as a primary therapist at Origins Hanley Center in West Palm Beach, specializing in care for older adults.

Barrett is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), among other trauma-informed modalities. His clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, memory concerns, PTSD, grief and loss, and substance use recovery.
In addition to individual therapy, Barrett works closely with couples and families. His approach is warm, compassionate, and direct—helping clients build insight, regain stability, and move toward healthier more fulfilling ways of being.
